The Middle East Would Issue Their First Gold Coin As Legal Tender

Notegolddiamond - If there is no restraint, The Middle East would issue their first legal tender coin made from gold. It is a Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC) that has proposed the UAE Central Bank to launch a legal tender gold coin.

The DMCC release that the design depicts would be the image of the        President, Sheikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan (on one side) and the world’s tallest tower in Dubai, the Burj Khalifa, on the other side.


The use of 828–metre tower Burj Khalifa is base on the purpose of that uilding which is a symbol of international co-operation, an unparalleled fete of engineering and a work of art. This tower also become the tallest free standing man-made structure, with over 160 storeys, in the world.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem as an Executive Chairman of DMCC has said that they are confident their design would represents the face of modern UAE and its aspirations. They also mention that this time is the great time to launch a reliable, easily transacted legal tender gold coin ever, since level of interest in gold investment nowadays is the highest ever in the history.”

The ‘Visions of Dubai’ series is a commemorative gold coin launched by DMCC in September 2007 which is available in 22 carat 1oz (34 g), ½ oz (17 g), ¼ oz (8.5 g) and 1/10 oz (3.4 g). the first edition carried the image of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum on one side and that of Burj Al Arab, the iconic landmark, on the other.

This coin has been proved to be highly popular with buyers. It designed to reflect Dubai’s visionary leadership and the emirate’s innovative projects. The first edition carried the image of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum and the tower Burj Al Arab on the other side, while the second series coin in 24 carat gold carries the image of HH Sheikh Mohammed’s image and the Palm Jumeirah, the world famous island, on the other side.
