Who doesn't know about white gold ?These materials have been widely used as a fine jewelry material. Actually, this kind of gold is such a gold alloys that look white rather than yellow, so it is a true carat golds, just like yellow or red carat gold jewellery. Expert have done many research and choose from various metals carefully to achieving white colour of gold , which bleach the deep yellow of pure gold. White golds are available up to 21 carat (but not in 22-karat, as it is yellow gold). They are often used to enhance diamonds and other gemstones.
Other kind is Making gold white which is similar to mixing colours in paints. There are two basic types of white gold alloys: white gold mixed with nickel and white gold mixed with palladium. Whites that belong to the nickel is more likely to have a colder white colour or grey to our eyes, oposite to the palladium whites that have a warmer colour. Another different is that better nickel whites usually difficult and hard to process but better palladium whites usually easy and soft to process but are much more expensive due to the price of palladium.
Many commercial white golds - For good technical and economic reasons - are often rhodium-plated to improve appearance. This rhodium plated for many consumers has become the norm colour of white gold as this is the kind of colour that they are used to seeing on jewellery described as white gold !
Nickel have a side effect on some female when they use this kind as their jewelry or other body piercing, so now some of jewellery stores are advertising their product as 'non-allergenic' or 'nickel-free'.
