"Silver and Gold Disney Coins"

Combine Two Forms of Collectibles

Post by : NGDlover
The line of Disney precious metal coins has sporadic additions, with some entire sets being released at one time, single coins at other times, and periods where none at all appear. While these combine the collectability of both collectible coins and all things Disney, those coins of pewter or metals other than those considered precious have little collecting appeal.

Disney coins are produced by the Rarity Mint, which is itself a mystery. This author believes it is a part of Disney, or perhaps an independent mint producing under the name Rarity Mint if the product is for Disney. This makes little difference, since these coins are highly sought after, regardless of their origin.
Disney produces a few gold coins, but most of the collectible coins are silver. Some issues, albeit a small number compared to the total variety of coins produced, have a gilded variety. This is true of the five coins that depicted the five parks, each showing a different Disney castle.
Disney silver coins can come in sets, such as the Fantasia set and the Disney Around the World set. These coins are collectable as individual pieces, as well as sets.
Most silver and gold Disney coins come with a numbered certificate of authenticity. Obviously, if more were made the value is lower. The Snow White series suffers from having been produced in great quantity. However, it appears two sets of the different sizes were produced, the nine coin sets and the eleven coin sets. The Witch and the Hunter are harder to find, so they might bring a higher value.
Disney has produced a variety of coin sizes. The silver Mickey Mouse's sixtieth birthday coin comes as small as one-tenth of an ounce mounted on a card, a particularly small silver coin. Several issues come in the one-half Troy ounce size, and a few come in the five Troy ounce size. The Lion King comes in a size between one-half and one Troy ounce.
Not all coins are what they appear. Disney coins plated with silver and gold do exist. Look for the 0.999 fine silver inscription on the coin. For read more click here
