Have you ever bought jewelry made from Moissanite or Zircon? these stone is very similar to diamond. Even mossanite can outsmart the diamond tester that not yet a dual tester by issuing the same sound. 1 carat measure is only worth about 500 dollars. Cheap isn' it?
This moisanite is a kind of natural stone, called Silicon Carbide. The content of moissanite is a SiC (Silicon Cabrite / Carbon),so its almost similar to the diamond . It was first investigated by DR Moissan from the meteor that fell into earth on Arizona. Due to very limited amount of SiC, this kind of stone has been developed by experts, andfinally come up as a moissanite. But moissanite has the level Mohs hardness only at 9:25 (Diamond exactly 10 Mohs).
It is difficult to distinguish moissanite from diamond. Size, clarity, cutting, etc. is not to lose from Diamond. Even better, and one thing that makes it too attracttive is its drooling price that much cheaper...
Unlike diamond, if we see the moissanite under light will wrote out 'rainbow', rather grayish yellow. Similar to diamond with color M or N (for yellow). So better do not buy mossanite that having size above 2 carat, in order to keep still vague with diamond.
If we only see a glimpse of it. This stone has good and real cutting, even the clarity more cleaner than the real diamond, maybe similar to level IV when it come to real diamond, it is also colourless, a real D in diamond's colour.
As time passes by, this "Russian diamond" would have a cloud and it will loss its brilliance. Besides, it don't have double-refractive-rich just like moissanite or diamond. So it is less light in shining comparison.
So, recommendation for someone who want to buy zircon is select the A triple grade and hand shaving, not a machine. Of course the price will 2 times higher than if it is machineshaving.
It is not recommended if you buy the zircon as solitaire, you should not make it solitaire and give it many details in frame.
Moissanite and "Russian diamond" only suitable for daily activity, it match reasons for being secure (fear of loose, missing or forgetting or even mugged) and fashionability (still shine like a diamond to the naked eye).
